Frame Contest 2013

Competition/Opportunity for Artists:

Eli Wilner & Company has been trusted to frame masterpieces at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The White House, Christie’s and Sotheby’s and numerous important private collections. They are now presenting a unique opportunity for NYC artists working in painting, drawing, photography or any other two dimensional media:

American art has a great history of frame-makers collaborating with artists. For example, at the turn of the 20th century, architect and frame designer Stanford White created exquisite frames for many of his artist friends such as John Singer Sargent and Thomas Wilmer Dewing.  Eli Wilner & Company would like to bring this tradition into the 21st Century, by welcoming contemporary artists to submit a proposal for a custom designed frame for a specific artwork.  Three to four finalists will be chosen by Mr. Wilner. His company staff will vote to determine one winner.

The winner will be featured on our website, have a private tour of our studio and receive their finished frame as realized by our master craftspeople who are highly skilled in carving, gilding, mold making and finishing. All finalists will receive a signed copy of Mr. Wilner’s book “The Gilded Edge” and a 1K gift certificate towards a future project.

Proposals will be selected on the criteria of originality, feasibility and presentation clarity. Tip: applicants may find the eWilner Frames App for iPhone and iPad a quick source for reference material.  www.ewilnerframes.com
